FACE COVERINGS AND EXEMPTION SUPPORT

TRENTHAM MEWS MEDICAL CENTRE WILL NOT PROVIDE EXEMPTION LETTERS OR CERTIFICATES.

Face masks/Facial coverings are now Mandatory in most public areas.  We understand some patients will be anxious about wearing a face mask/covering especially if you have breathing difficulties.

HOWEVER AS STATED ON THE GOV.UK WEBSITE

GP’s are not contractually obliged or in a position to provide exemption letters or certificates for patients who believe they should be exempt from wearing face covering.  The guidance suggests there is no requirement for the public to provide evidence, medical or otherwise for exemption, therefore a self declaration from the individual should be sufficient.  Some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering.  This could be in the form of an exemption card, badge or even a home-made sign.  This is a personal choice and is not necessary in law.  Those who have an age, health or disability reason for not wearing a face covering should not be routinely asked to give any written evidence of this.

Please go to the GOV.UK website for further information on the use of face coverings.
